Hi I'm Rebecca. I live in a small Victorian terraced house in Cardiff, Wales, with my husband David, our son Torin, and our two cats called Oberon and Rufus. We're also expecting a baby girl in November!
David and I bought our house in July 2007 and decorated it pretty quickly soon after that. We had a VERY limited budget, and wanted to complete the revamp quickly - we couldn't stand the deeply embossed wallpaper and bad finish of everything that we inherited from the previous owner.
A wedding, a baby and several job-changes later, and it is time for us to start again. We need to finish the jobs that we just couldn't face the first time round, like painting the pre-finished skirting boards in the living room, or putting the second coat of paint on the walls in the hallway and stairs. My tastes have also changed. In our previous house, we embraced colour and painted every wall to reflect this. However, I quickly became bored of the aubergine walls in the bathroom, the blue walls of our living room and the pink walls of our bedroom - in our current house, I wanted calm neutrals, and painted the rooms accordingly. Successfully calmed, I am now back to craving injections of colour again and I'm currently working out how to do this in a way that I won't tire of, or that I can change easily.
After 5 years of teaching English to 11-18 year olds, I left my job last year to be at home with Torin. I spent the summer and the weeks (well ok, months) afterwards just enjoying being at home and playing. After my maternity leave I had to go back to work full time and missed spending time with my little boy immensely. I felt that although my job was worthwhile, there was a tiny boy at home, who didn't know anything yet. Therefore, I decided to leave my job, and become a "stay-at-home-mum".
Now, at the start of 2011, I feel ready to begin a new phase. With my newly acquired time (!) I plan to re-decorate our entire house! I'll be using this blog to document how I get on, and my thoughts on my change of career.
Please feel free to comment on any of my posts - I'd love to hear from you!

Sounds like a great plan Bec, I really enjoyed decorating my place, albeit in a simple way! Of course you dropped the wine, you are you....!!x
Thanks for reading Caroline, and yep, some things never change! xx
Read your comment on Decor8 today about "Being Conent". I totally identified with it. I never realized how much justifying I do when others pay my house a compliment. Just thought I'd let you know!
If you still want an original pre Ikea Poang style leather chair I have 2 for sale - recently inherited.
